Another selling point

Good Morning Everyone. I know we haven't posted much information lately about CV and the plan for getting it to Orlando.

As a selling point for Lucasfilm we would like to get political. No not about who we voted for or who you voted for but for ATTENDANCE records at Orlando local rally spots for both candidates.

Both Barrack Obama and John McCain had rallies in Orlando and our town was able to support them. The different venues used by both candidates includes the Amway Arena to smaller venues in the city and surrounding area. Attendance records suggested some rallies hitting 15-20,000 people in attendance to one turn out estimated at 40-60,000

Now don't forget these are single day attendance records imagine a 4 day event and what the attendance could be.

Dragon Con update

This years Dragon*Con has come and gone, and though we were unable to attend we will be shooting for the 2009 con. We did see a report from the con about CV and a Question and Answer session Steve Sansweet hosted. The following story came from yodanews.com

Saturday at Dragon*Con is usually one of the busiest, and this year proved no differently for the "Star Wars" track. Cartoon Network sponsored Steve Sansweet of Lucasfilm Fan Relations, who answered questions from fans, including the all important "when and where is C5?"

According to Sansweet, Lucasfilm is looking at 2010 for Celebration 5 and are looking at locations in the midwest and eastern United States. No specifics were given, but he did indicate not to expect any announcements soon.

2010 would make an AMAZING CV since that would be the 30th anniversary year for The Empire Strikes Back (my favorite of the trilogy)

We will keep posting more information throughout the time till whenever CV is Officially annouced!

More systems join our cause

We know its been a few weeks since our last update post but between work seeing clone wars opening night and general life things have been a little busy.

But not to busy to find a wonderful group of Star Wars enthusiast here in Orlando who share the same view for CV to come to Orlando. Yesterday we attended the Orlando Star Wars fan force meeting for the Orlando System and we were welcomed and treated to some wonderful collectibles and stories of encounters with some of our favorite star wars celebrities.

In the midst of the meeting we discussed Orlando' chances to host Celebration 5 and what can we do to show our support. It was agreed at the meeting that there would be a partnership between this blog site and the Orlando System facebook CV site to bring more information to the masses and also show Lucasfilm the unity that we share as fans.

So with that being said if you have a facebook account please feel free to join the group on there to show your support and look for more information to come from both channels as we all work to bring the next major Star Wars event to Orlando!

Small Update since Celebration Japan and SDCC'08

We waited for both of these major events to be over with before sending another email to Steve Sansweet since we knew he would be very busy at both events.

Our basic question was what can we do to show support for Orlando that would not be seen as a negative to Lucasfilm (i.e. mass emails phone calls etc)

He stated the currently they are not even close to making a decision and that there is nothing we can do as of yet till timelines are in place etc. They know that there is a large amount of support for Orlando to host CV and stated that he would let us know if and when they would need help down the road.

This doesn't mean this site is going away or not going to get update. This site will keep going until the host city is annouced. For right now we will have to wait and see.

May the Force be with Orlando!

Steve Sansweet email

I sent an email to Steve Sansweet regarding the article in the Baltimore business journal and told him of this blog and the fact that we feel Orlando should be the host city for Celebration V. He wrote back the following.

"Thanks Mike--
I appreciate your passion on this issue. We really are quite a way from making ANY decisions.

Best,
Steve"

I have asked Steve what is the Best way that we the fans can voice our support for the city of Orlando. Just like the Olympics it takes time for a city to get picked but we want to show support for Orlando to be given the honor to host Star Wars Celebration 5

Boba Fett likes the idea of Celebration V in Orlando

Since the news broke about Orlando being in the running we have sent emails out to allot of people covering from local county officials, local comic stores, lucasfilm and star wars celebrities. This morning we received a reply back from an email we sent Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett) off his Official Website

"Sounds like a good idea - I will certainly mention it to the powers that be! Jeremy"

For those of us who have met Mr Bulloch know how fan friendly he is and all around awesome guy! Thanks for the support Jeremy.

TF.NET article

I never saw this to happen I sent an email to tf.net letting them know of the online campaign we have started and would you believe it they posted the news Thanks tf.net
